Description: Arp was a pioneer of abstract art. This poster was printed for the retrospective exhibition in the year of his death.

Artist: Hans Arp aka Jean Arp (1886-1966) was a German sculptor, painter and poet. He was known as a Dadaist and an abstract artist. He studied at the École des Arts et Métiers in Strasbourg before the Académie Julian, Paris, in 1908. He mixed with artists including Robert Delaunay in Paris, Wassily Kandinsky in Munich, Max Jacob, Amadeo Modigliani and Picasso in Paris. His work was in the first Surrealist group exhibition at the Galerie Pierre, Paris in 1925.
