Description: Pablo Palazuelo brought an architect’s eye to abstract painting. Trained in architecture before turning to art, he built his compositions from carefully balanced geometric forms, creating work that feels both disciplined and quietly poetic.

His 1958 exhibition at the Galerie Maeght in Paris placed him alongside some of the biggest names in twentieth century art. Miró, Braque, Calder, Giacometti and Chagall all exhibited there, and an invitation from Maeght confirmed Palazuelo’s growing reputation beyond Spain.

The ideas that shaped his paintings also found their way into sculpture. His monumental steel works, many of which remain in public spaces across Spain and France, explore the same relationships between line, geometry and space. This original exhibition poster reflects that distinctive way of seeing and introduces an artist whose work still feels remarkably fresh today.

Artist: Pablo Palazuelo (1915-2007) was a Spanish painter. He qualified as an architect before serving in the Spanish Civil War, after which he devoted his time to painting. His early abstracted still lifes were influenced by Juan Gris, Picasso and Daniel Vázques Díaz. He moved to Paris in 1948 and worked in geometric-abstract style founded on the constant exploration of new shapes and their infinite variations. He exhibited in the inaugural Salon de Mai, Paris in 1949. His first solo exhibition was in 1955 with Galerie Maeght who he continued to exhibit with until the 1980s.
