Artist: Piero Dorazio (1927-2005) was an Italian painter known for his colour field painting, lyrical abstraction and other forms of abstract art. Along with his family, he fled his home town of Abruzzo during the Second World War, working briefly as a translator for the British Army, before studying architecture at the University of Rome. Influenced by futurists, he began to paint and, aged 20, won a scholarship to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
