In his early twenties, our founder, Harry Pruden, bought a 1962 Picasso poster promoting an exhibition at Galerie Louise Leiris in Paris. Initially drawn in by the simplicity of the design, he soon discovered that it was one of only 2,000 lithographic posters printed by Paris’ celebrated printmakers, L’Atelier Mourlot, and suddenly it was not just an image he liked - it was a significant and tangible piece of art history with a much larger story to tell.
Original art exhibition posters were produced in limited editions, often designed by the artists themselves to announce their latest shows. They brought the work of Picasso, Matisse, Chagall and their peers beyond the gallery walls and onto the streets of Paris and regional France. Colourful, captivating and made to be noticed, they offered a direct connection to an artist’s world and at a fraction of the price of an original painting.
Yet they were never intended to last. Once an exhibition closed, many posters were pulled down and destroyed to make way for the next. A small handful found their way into visitors’ homes, private archives and collectors’ back rooms, living quiet lives far removed from the bustling streets they once adorned.
Over the last ten years Harry has continued that same search, seeking out rare pieces that get noticed, spark curiosity and engage conversation. What began as one collector's fascination became a series of pop-up shops before a permanent gallery opened at 322 King’s Road, London, in February 2026.
Today, Hommage continues to champion original exhibition posters and lithograph prints as artworks in their own right, bringing these rare survivors from the streets and archives of twentieth-century France into the hands and homes of a new generation of admirers and collectors.

Through regular exhibitions and intimate events, it aims to unite all from the curious newcomers to seasoned collectors, interior designers and contemporary artists alike.
