Description: Floating above the Venetian skyline, this vivid green cherub is a joyful take on the city’s angelic side.

Designed by Charles Lapicque in 1956 and printed as an original lithographic poster by the legendary L’Atelier Mourlot, its bold blocks of colour and striking graphic forms bring plenty of energy to the scene. It’s unmistakably mid-century - colourful, expressive and rather hard to ignore.

Lapicque’s fascination with colour began long before he devoted himself entirely to art. While working as an engineer, he researched colour perception in the laboratory, an interest that would go on to shape his artistic style. His paintings became known for fragmented spaces, patches of vivid colour and loose outlines, creating compositions full of movement and character.
