Artist: Emilio Grau-Sala (1911 - 1975) was a Spanish-born painter and illustrator associated with the School of Paris, celebrated for his vibrant, lyrical depictions of Parisian life. After leaving Spain during the Civil War, he settled in France, where his colourful, elegant, and often nostalgic scenes became highly sought after. His style blended post-Impressionist influence with a refined decorative sensibility, making him popular in both fine art and book illustration. Today, his works remain admired for their romantic atmosphere, fluid brushwork, and joyful use of colour.
