Description: Original colour lithograph by Pierre Ambrogiani, printed by Ateliers J. Gourdon in 1974.

The work depicts a figure riding a donkey, transformed through Ambrogiani’s characteristically bold and expressive use of colour. Areas of turquoise, violet, pink, ochre and deep blue overlap in broad, simplified forms, giving the composition an almost abstract quality while retaining the warmth and immediacy of the everyday scene.

The vibrant palette and spontaneous handling are characteristic of Ambrogiani’s work and his colourful interpretations of life and landscape in the Mediterranean.
