Eduardo Chillida was a Spanish sculptor renowned for his monumental abstract works. He also produced lithographs, etchings and woodcuts.

A former footballer, Chillida left the sport due to injuries and studied architecture at the University of Madrid before moving to Paris to pursue sculpture. His major public works can be seen in Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt and Dallas, as well as steel sculptures installed outside the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and the World Bank in Washington.

He first exhibited in 1949 at the Salon de Mai at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, followed in 1950 by a post-war art exhibition at Galerie Maeght, Les Mains Éblouies. Over his career, he held more than 100 solo exhibitions.
